I’m going on holiday next week. That is exciting but the place I’m going, Northumberland, is very green. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but when I’m in green places I’m in green places I lean towards black and white:
I JUST DON’T ENJOY LOTS OF GREEN IN PHOTOS
I may have found the answer. Kodak IR Aerochrome is a discontinued colour infra-red film with a very groovy look. Blues can lean a little cyan which I like in a sky and greens go red and pink. I, of course, won’t be shooting an extremely rare and expensive discontinued film but I will be using Lightroom to give a similar look to digital images.
This morning I took a stroll in the park and shot some green shit and I think I’m liking the results. I will quickly need to try it on skin tones but the few I’ve seen so far seem pretty good.
We don’t ride the Glasgow Underground much. It doesn’t come by our side of the city but today we were heading to the West End. No special reason: we just wanted to walk round a park we haven’t already walked round ten times this week. Covid lockdown certainly lowers your expectations off a fun day out.
I have also been playing around with shine new colour edits and I’m pretty happy with it.
These were all shot on the go with my X-T2 and the big 16mm f/1.4 (that thing gets a bit heavy after a few hours but the upgrade in image quality compared to the f/2.8 version is definitely worth it.
Why not drop a comment and get some chat going. Any subject, the lens, the edit, the composition, whatever…
Guess what? Nothing happened. Took a long walk with a friend. Shot nothing along the way. Still rocking the big 16mm at home.
My grand plans of using nothing else fell apart after importing these shots as I mount the old 35mm again and used that for a night. I’ll probably do that again soon, it felt like comfy old shoes; so familiar, so easy.
